St. Jude Thaddeus Parish Community, Kyarusozi
St. Jude is beautiful church and is home to daily morning mass, multiple Sunday masses, talented adult and children choirs and church groups. The Priests and Brothers of the Holy Cross live on the grounds of the parish, and the Sisters of the Holy Cross live just across the road from the parish. In Kyarusozi, the Sisters of the Holy Cross run a dispensary (clinic and pharmacy), family center, and nursery school. The Brothers support the secondary school (St. Joseph's Hill), Kyarusozi Vocational Training Institute parish outreach. The parish is church building itself was constructed in 2007 and it is the construction work of Bro. Bernie CSC and his team, and the stone work inside and around the church is the signature of his handiwork. There are beautifully commissioned statues of Mary and Joseph in the back corners of the church, stations of the Cross displayed along the back wall, and Crucifix above the altar.
The village of Kyarusozi covers a very large area, so St. Jude has around 26 sub-parishes all around the village with weekly masses and sacraments such as the one pictured below in Kyembogo. The pictures are during a mass for the students of St. Joseph's Hill Secondary School. The sub-parish in Kyembogo is right next to the secondary school.
The parish is a common gathering spot for parish activities, as well as a place where neighborhood residents and children come to play volleyball or football.
